#MeToo

When the “Me Too” posts started popping up everywhere, I didn’t jump on board.  
Yes, it applies.  I know that declaring it has happened and continues to happen is part of the process to stop it from happening and creating a safe space to discuss it, but I want to turn the conversation to not them.  Not her.  Not him.  Not our future generations.  
The issues are ingrained in our society and our culture.  How do we change that systematically with our future generations?  Where do I start?
I start with a greater awareness of my words and my actions around my daughter.  I don’t strive to be perfect but when I catch myself saying or doing something I don’t want her to follow, I discuss it with her.  I explain to her why I have the perspective I have and how I want her perspective to be better.
What do we want for our children?  Do we want them to live in a better world?  We need to start acting like that, and showing them.  Modeling the behavior.  Changing the language.
We act like we love.  We say we practice kindness.  But when will that become intrinsic?  How do we prioritize values of respect to others, when our society thrives on building oneself up at the expense of others?  
Middle school girls are so mean to each other, yet women in communities empower each other.  We are capable of change, and of seeing and being the good.
We need to breakdown the stereotypes.  The gender stereotypes.  The definition of success stereotypes.  The “traditional”.  We are paving our own path and we decide where it will take us.
